Amen

Amen, is a word that has been mentioned for centuries.  A word uttered by many in agreement with an action, a comment made, or the end of a prayer.

Merriam-Webster defines Amen as:  —used to express solemn ratification (as of an expression of faith) or hearty approval (as of an assertion),

Amen is actually a Hebrew word that remains unchanged.

The first time we see this word used in scripture is in the book of Numbers (a lesson for another time).

Amen אָמֵן

In Strong’s concordance it’s H543 it’s defined as sure, faithfulness;  truly.  Amen:  so be it, truth.  In the ancient Hebrew Amen is something that supports something else; a skill or strength that’s passed on to the next generation.

In the Hebrew language words come from (parent) root words and child (adopted) words.  In this case Amen comes from the Hebrew root word:

Aman אָמַן

Yes, you’re right, it’s spelled the same.  This root word means to build or support, to be faithful, to trust or believe, to be sure, steadfast.

Psalm 72:19  And blessed be His esteemed Name forever! And let all the earth be filled with His esteem. Amĕn and Amĕn.

Revelation 3:14  “And to the messenger of the assembly in Laodikeia write, ‘The Amĕn, the Trustworthy and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of Elohim,1 says this:

Wow, in this scripture the Messiah Yahshua, (Jesus) is called “The Amen”

Next time you hear or say the word Amen, remember it’s not a word to be taken lightly.  It’s like making an oath, with meaning and expectation.
